Reflections on the year gone by

It’s been a huge year for Lifecycles! We’ve had our Lifecycles Lab take place in partnership with Queensland Manufacturing Hub, where our consultants rapidly analysed and solved complex product systems for SMEs.

LCA & Sustainability

We’ve launched our fifth iteration of our Packaging Impact Quick Evaluation Tool (PIQET 5) introducing key developments like the Organization Packaging Footprint, which tracks and analyses packaging impacts across organisational activities over time, and the ISO 14044 report builder enabling users to make comparative environmental claims in packaging domain.

From the consulting side, technology and innovation continue to thrive, with LCA as the go-to tool for testing feasibility in emerging solutions. We’ve seen significant growth in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), where companies publicly share their environmental profiles in a structured, transparent way. In agriculture, we’ve worked across diverse systems, from broadacre grains and crops to horticulture.

Looking to 2025, we anticipate rising demand for Scope 3 data sets driven by Climate-Related Financial Disclosures and domain-specific sustainability metrics. Our tools and training programs will adapt to these needs, while our consultants focus on harder-to-abate sectors. Additionally, the new GLAM metrics - biodiversity and physical health- will begin shaping our day-to-day work.
