Visy | Comparative LCA of plastic bubble wrap and paper-based alternative (2026)

To support the phase-out of plastic bubble wrap, Visy commissioned Lifecycles to assess the environmental performance of its new recyclable paper-based protective wraps. Using a comparative life cycle assessment, Lifecycles quantified impacts across production, distribution and end-of-life scenarios and identified opportunities to reduce environmental impacts. The results demonstrate how paper-based protective packaging can reduce environmental impacts while enabling higher recycling rates in Australia—providing Visy with the evidence needed to bring lower-impact packaging alternatives to market.
