Strengthening the sustainability of Rubus Berry production
To support the development of a long-term sustainability program for the Rubus Berry industry, Lifecycles conducted an industry-wide life cycle assessment (LCA) to measure the environmental performance of raspberry and blackberry production in Australia.
The study evaluated greenhouse gas emissions, water use, and water scarcity impacts at both farm and industry levels. It identified key opportunities for improvement across energy systems, yielding, packaging formats, and fertiliser management and tunnel infrastructure.
