Environmental Product Declarations of Prolam's Glue Laminated Timber (Glulam) Product Range, 2024
Prolam is a New Zealand manufacturer based in Nelson, specialising in wooden posts, beams and derived glue laminated timber (glulam) products. To provide transparency and enable customers to quantify the environmental impacts of specifying its products, Lifecycles developed Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) covering Prolam's whole range of posts and beams. The underlying life cycle assessments were conducted in compliance with ISO 14025, EN 15804:2012+A2:2019, PCR 2019:14 and C-PCR-006, quantifying environmental performance across the full life cycle of the products.
Results for the client: The EPDs were independently verified and registered on both the International EPD Programme and the Australasian EPD Programme, giving Prolam's products recognition across two markets. The declarations provide architects, engineers and specifiers with transparent, comparable environmental data for structural timber, and the verified evidence base increasingly demanded under green building certification and sustainable procurement frameworks. They equip Prolam's customers to make lower-carbon structural choices grounded in robust life cycle data.
