Biax Foundations | Void Former EPD
Environmental Product Declaration of Biax Foundations' Void Former, 2024–25
Biax Foundations is an Australian company based in New South Wales. It has developed a void former product, manufactured from post-consumer recycled polypropylene, used in construction to reduce the volume of concrete required on site. Lifecycles produced an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for the void former, built on a life cycle assessment conducted in accordance with the relevant Product Category Rules for construction products. The assessment quantified environmental performance across the full life cycle of the product, from recycled feedstock and manufacture through to end-of-life.
Results for the client: Both the LCA and the EPD were independently verified before being registered on the Australasian EPD Programme, giving Biax Foundations a transparent, credible environmental declaration to share with architects, engineers and certification schemes. The EPD demonstrates circularity in action: a product that diverts post-consumer plastic from waste while reducing concrete volumes on site. It provides the verified evidence base increasingly demanded under Green Star, NABERS and sustainable procurement frameworks, backing Biax's lower-impact positioning with rigorous, comparable data.
